ABSTRACT:Tess of the D'Urbervilles was the most famous of Hardy’ s representative works. It represents the peak of literary and artistic creation of Hardy. Tess was gibbeted because she killed Alec and had broken the law that time in the end of the novel. Many scholars had made many researches to find the reason why Tess killed Alec. This paper aims at finding out the affection that Alec took on Tess by analyzing the survival crisis, religions belief crisis and identity crisis of Tess and tries to find out how did these crisis cause Tess to kill Alec.
