Abstract:Mansfield Park presents readers a new female image who dares to fight against the patriarchy and makes great efforts to pursue a free marriage. This paper aims to probe into the causes of her self-awakening through the analysis of Fanny’s feminine consciousness from three aspects. In the face of poor living conditions, she takes a positive attitude towards life. In confrontation with traditional marriage concept, she decides to follow her own heart and pursue her true love. Under the pressure from patriarchal society, she adheres to herself and finally breaks the shackles. The awakening of Fanny Price’s feminine consciousness is the result of both social factors and her self-improvement.
