Abstract:This paper aims to explore the differences in marriage values between China and western countries through the movie Wedding Banquet and to introduce the characteristics of Chinese and western marriage values. Based on the comparison of the different standards in choosing spouse, purposes of marriage, wedding ceremony, and views on divorce, the paper will analyze reasons of the differences. Furthermore, the paper analyzes the mixture of Chinese and western marriage values and the influences of difference to achieve a better understanding of cultural differences and provides reference to cross-cultural practices.
