ABSTRACT
Verbalized noun is the inevitable product of people in the process of social communication with its simplicity and vivid rhetoric effect widely favored by people. This paper explains the usage of verbalized noun in the communication from linguistic and rhetoric perspectives. The paper explains the origin, usage and progress by combining psychology, pragmatics and rhetoric, etc.
The first chapter first describes the current situation of verbalized noun. And the research and discussion of scholars both home and aboard. It also explains the concept of verbalized noun briefly laying a sound foundation for the discussion of verbalized noun in English-Chinese translation. The second chapter mainly expounds the reasons of verbalized noun through linguistic factors. Dilemma of language, model of language and semantic ambiguity are the important factors in verbalized noun. The third chapter covers the efficiency principle, the cooperative principle and politeness principle of the pragmatic factors and the simplicity, novelty and difference of the psychological factors are not only the occurrence of the verbalized noun, but also the principle in translation. And this chapter also classifies the verbalized noun according to the classification of different scholars with examples. The last chapter concludes the contents of the article, including the concept, the reasons, methods of translation, classification and usage.
Conclusions can be drawn as follows. Firstly, there are corresponding and similar contexts and expressions in both Chinese and English, which can be regarded as the basis of translation of Chinese and English. Secondly, due to the similarities in Chinese and English expressions, verbalized noun is taken as a corresponding way to convey the same information or express emotions. Thirdly, owing to the similar cultural background, verbalized noun appears more obvious and accurate in the translation of Chinese and English, especially in conversation English.
