Abstract
There were many difficulties in the communication between China and the West in the Middle Ages.Due to certain factors related to geography,transportation,culture and so on,the culture exchange was blocked.As a result,messengers were needed to transmit messages between China and the West in order to improve the efficiency of information transmission.Marco Polo was the author of “The Travels of Marco Polo”,who came to China during the Yuan Dynasty,witnessed some of the development happening in history,which had a clear impact on the spread of Western culture.This article primarily explored“The Travels of Marco Polo”and the influence on the culture exchange between China and the West,on the basis of demonstrating the authenticity of“The Travels of Marco Polo”,which explored the influence of history culture,economy culture,astronomy culture and food culture on the culture exchange between China and the West.And the article consists of four parts,the first part shortly introduces Marco Polo and“The Travels of Marco Polo”,the second part analyzes“The Travels of Marco Polo”,the third part records the influence on the culture exchange between China and the West,the fourth part generalizes and concludes the whole article.
