Abstract
21st century is not only the era of knowledge economy, but also the century of educational change. As the key part of the national education system and citizen’s quality improvement, teachers play a vital role in education. The government of Australian gives priority to reform of pre-service teacher education system and adapts it to different times. In recent decades, Chinese pre-service teacher education system has also experienced many changes. Based on the present pre-service teacher education systems in China and Australia, this paper attempts to make a comparative analysis to find the differences and the similarities by looking into following aspects, curriculum design, internship, teacher certification. It mainly focuses on the case study of comparing pre-service teacher education pattern between Hangzhou Normal University and University of Melbourne. The result of the comparison shows that Australian pre-service system is characterized by more curriculum choices, more flexible internship time arrangement and higher demands on applicants for teacher certification.
