Abstract
In the nineteenth century, western language teaching theorists and curriculum specialists have noticed that reading and writing are closely related in some way. In the twenty-first century, our country’s teaching theorists and curriculum specialists also began to explore the integrated teaching method and to combine reading and writing in compiling textbook. However, the truth is that English reading teaching and writing teaching are carried out separately. Middle school students still see English writing as a difficult task, and they make few progress in writing proficiency. The reformation of college entrance examination issued in 2016 have drawn teachers on the front and language teaching theorists’ attention to the integrated teaching of reading and writing. How to conduct an effective integrated lesson to enhance students’ English writing ability is a problem demanding prompt solution. This paper firstly takes a review of former researches on the relationship between reading and writing. And it analyzes the current situation of teaching and students’ reading and writing in high school. Then, three classic cases of integrated lesson are discussed. Some enlightenment will be shown in the final chapter.
