Abstract
In the "English Curriculum Standards," it points out that: The overall objective of English courses in the stage of basic education is to develop students' comprehensive ability of using language. The New Curriculum Standards regards affective education as an important content of English courses for the first time. Therefore, successful English teaching, not only depends on such intelligence factors as learners’ attention, observation, memory and thinking; but also on some affective factors like emotion, interest and attitude. In fact, in teaching practice, affective factors are not just one major factor influencing students’ academic performance, but also important factors causing the polarization of English learning in primary schools. So, on the basis of a brief description of the definition, this paper mainly discusses the problems and strategies in the application of affective education in primary school English teaching. Finally, combined with the teaching practice, this paper puts forward some suggestions on how to apply affective education in primary school English teaching to stimulate students' positive emotion and interest in English learning and improve the effectiveness of English teaching in primary school.
