Abstract
Task-based Approach has been adopted by many teachers at present English teaching classroom because it’s necessary for students to learn language and communicate with others in real life. In Task-based teaching, teachers need to set up proper situations which are close to their real-life communication. The tasks should be designed in accordance with students’ interests and learning experience. Students can acquire English knowledge, develop language skills, and improve the competence of language usage through participating in activities and cooperating with others. This thesis includes five chapters. In the chapter one, I introduce the relevant theories of TBA. Then, I state several definitions of task. In the chapter two, I study the task in some aspects, such as the task types, the task features, the task components and the task framework. The principles of designing tasks will be discussed in next chapter including authenticity, functionality and practicality. In chapter four, it introduces the application of task design in teaching listening, speaking, reading and writing in detail. In the last chapter, it draws a conclusion.
