Abstract

 

 Listening is a very complex intellectual activity, so the psychological phenomenon---fear and anxiety caused by various factors is quite common.                   In this dissertation, the present status of listening anxiety of English majors and the effect caused by listening anxiety on listening ability and comprehension are analyzed. Also, the causes of listening anxiety of English majors are deeply  studied from different angle and depth. Taking students, teachers and object factors into consideration, conquering the listening anxiety needs the joint effort of both teachers and students. For one thing, Students should not only enhance the language and cultural background and psychological quality, but also strengthen independent learning. For another, teachers ought to select appropriate listening texts and guide students the study of listening strategies gradually improve the students English listening for the purpose of reducing listening anxiety.
