Abstract
Students’ interest is a powerful driving force for English learning. In the process of English teaching, as a teacher, on the one hand, they should impart knowledge to the students and make them master skills; on the other hand, they ought to consciously develop students’ lasting interest in English and make them willing to learn English and good at learning it. Teachers can also let students feel joyful in English learning. They should provide continuous power for language activities in practice. The paper focuses on the basic theories of interest, the characteristics of students, the reason of lacking interest and how to develop interest.
