Abstract
With the swiftly speed development of intercultural communication, The effectiveness of intercultural communication has aroused more and more attention.Owing to the different existence of Chinese and Western culture ,different traditions and customs, people's lifestyles, thinking habits, values and language habits are very different, so do many daily behavior in the daily communication activities.In the cross-cultural communication between China and the West, the cultural conflict can be seen everywhere, which seriously affects the social harmony and the smooth progress of exchanges, and it also makes the two sides in a very awkward situation. Therefore, it is very necessary for us to find out the deep reasons and take certain measures to develop the ability of intercultural communication and lesson the occurrence of cultural conflict.
This article is mainly from the social etiquette to compare the differences between Chinese and Western culture. Social etiquette, as a culture in social life, is to handle interpersonal relationships, which is also used to show friendship and goodwill to others . In all ages, social etiquette introduced by people is no shortage of works. China is known as the "etiquette of the state" reputation. Speaking "ceremony" and understanding "instrument" are the fine tradition of the Chinese nation from generation to generation. This article first introduces the Chinese and western ritual culture showing different characteristics, mainly can account for the following two points. First, the ancient Chinese culture emphasizes modesty, while the West lay emphasis on the individual values. Second, the ancient Chinese culture is to enhance the order of virtue, but the Western society promotes freedom and equality. Oriental cultural level concept is strong, whether in the organization or the family, which have a certain senior grade. Next, there is to emphasize the introduction of Western culture in the East and West in different aspects of the expression, such as greeting, farewell and praise. Then, there will be some reasons explaining the differences, such as different thinking, different values and differences in moral ethics. Finally, it will introduce the effective strategies to be taken for the differences of social rituals across Chinese and Western cultures. At last,it concludes the article.
