Abstract
With the development and expansion of economic globalization, English has penetrated into every corner of society. The ability of English reading is required to improve. Therefore, the importance of reading in English teaching becomes more and more prominent. Students’ active participation is one part of English reading teaching, and teachers’ guidance is another important part of that. This thesis tries to study whether appropriate teachers’ leading-in methods in English reading teaching in Grade Seven is useful for students to improve the performance of reading. The author chooses two classes in Grade Seven as objects of study. One class uses teachers’ leading-in methods in English reading class, and the other class doesn’t use any teaching leading-in methods. The thesis analyses the scores of three tests after three months of teaching experiments. Finally, it demonstrates that appropriate teachers’ leading-in methods can improve reading performance of students in Grade Seven to some extent.
