Abstract
Business correspondence, throughout the process of foreign trade business, is an important means to carry out foreign economic and trade business and related business activities. The contents of the business correspondence involve all procedures of foreign trade business. Meanwhile, the basic business competence is also entrusted with foreign trade business staffs. Business is business. Business communities from different countries regard efficiency as money, so they emphasize the speed of communication, quality and effectiveness when contacting with each other. A good business letter should be concise, professional, formal and courteous, with the aim to achieve the purpose of grasping good business opportunities. Therefore, the economics of language is widely used in business letter. This paper attempts to explore the style and linguistic features of business letters and their translation skills from the perspective of new language economy, jointly observing principle of general equilibrium, principle of common presupposition, principle of closeness preference, principle of satisfaction adequacy of speech and principle of conformity to the public. The two sides must fully consider each other’s needs and feelings in order to achieve rapid and efficient communication when writing a business letter.
