Abstract: Abstract plays a very important role in graduation paper. In order to help undergraduates to write abstracts which meet academic standard, this thesis first sets up two corpora, Scholars’ Paper Abstracts (SPA) and Students’ Thesis Abstracts (STA) and then assesses students’ abstracts from the perspective of stylistics by taking scholars’ English abstracts as the standard. The result shows students have deficiencies at understanding the theme of the novels from various perspectives, capacity of generalization, the use of voice, logic, the use of conjunctions and the use of four moves. Thus students need to improve these abilities when writing abstracts.
