ABSTRACT
Listening, which is considered as an indispensable form of communication, occupies a vital position both in language learning and the contact among human beings. With the rapid development of social science and technology, international trade is becoming more and more frequent. And English, as one of the most widely used languages in the world, plays a more and more significant role in the international trade. However, though the current fast-growing economic era provides students with a better learning platform, as a matter of fact, the English learning grades of senior high school students are not satisfactory. To such a situation, author tries to find out factors which can affect senior high school students' English listening learning by carrying out a questionnaire survey, and studies further, analyzes and summarizes the results of the survey, finally, puts forward some suggestions to improve senior high school students' English listening comprehension according to the results of the survey, so as to help senior high school students to solve the
problems encountered in their English listening learning and then to further improve their English listening learning levels.
The findings of this thesis come from the actual senior high school English Teaching. In order to achieve the final goal, author distributes six hundred and fifty four questionnaires to senior three students from Nanshan Bilingual Experimental School at Mianyang during internship. After analyzing those questionnaires, author finds out factors which can affect senior high school students’ English listening learning are mainly composed of subjective factors and objective factors, including pronunciation and intonation, vocabulary, grammar, cultural background knowledge, learning motivation, self-confidence, etc. Then author comes up with suggestions to enhance senior high school students’ English listening learning competence, which is favoring to their English learning.
The thesis is made up of introduction, literature review, questionnaire, strategies and conclusion. Introduction mainly explains the background, purpose and significance of this thesis. literature review impresses the study of factors which can affect English listening learning at home and abroad, also, and author analyzes and discusses the research result of English listening learning strategies at home and abroad . And the questionnaire aims at making a survey to understand the English listening learning situation of senior three students, getting access to factors which can affect senior high school students’ English listening learning and strategies used in their learning. Consequently, author can find out factors which can affect senior high school students’ English listening learning. Furthermore, author comes up with some strategies to enhance senior high school students’ English listening learning competence according to the result of research. Finally, make a conclusion to the whole thesis.
