Abstract
With the development of globalization, the ability of speaking English has become a must for Chinese students. At present, however, most of the Chinese students are not capable of speaking English fluently. They also know little about how to start a conversation or make a further debate when talking with native English speakers, which indicates the bad abilities of oral English of junior high school students. The cause of this phenomenon is mainly due to the bad oral English teaching. After reading a large number of literature documents, I conclude there are 4 aspects of problems on oral English teaching in junior high school summarized by other researchers: first, the oral English training is ignored; second, the forms of oral English activities are simple; third, students are afraid of communicating in English; fourth, necessary English environment isn’t available. In this thesis, based on my classroom observation in Chengdu Experimental Foreign Languages School and Chengdu Jiaxiang Foreign Language School, I come up with some useful suggestions about how to teach oral English effectively in junior high school, mainly are paying more attention to the teaching of oral English, stimulating students’ interests in oral English learning and paying attention to the input of basic knowledge.
