Abstract
With the improvement of science and technology, more scientific exchanges between China and other countries take place. Because of the role of English for science and technology (EST), EST translation becomes more and more vital. This thesis, based on the Skopos theory, discusses the features of EST and techniques for EST translation. The thesis is composed of six parts. The first part mainly discusses the significance of development of EST and the necessity of EST translation. The second part introduces the Skopos theory and relevant rules. The third part indicates features of EST. The fourth part shows the present situation of EST translation and the problems. The fifth part illuminates techniques for the translation of passive voice, specialized vocabulary, attributive clauses, partial negative sentences and sentence order under the guide of the Skopos theory. The sixth part comes to the concision.
