Abstract
With the rapid development of society, the traditional English teaching approaches turn out to be rigid and backward. What’s more, they are not flexible enough to adapt to the requirements of new curriculum reform. This thesis aims at advocating the application of English movies in middle school English teaching and upgrading the quality of English teaching. Based on the analysis of the problems in middle school English teaching, it elaborates the advantages of introducing English movies to classroom English teaching. Then it presents detailed standards to choose English movies and procedures of applying English movies in middle school English teaching. Last but not least, it is the profound hope that this thesis can be helpful to classroom English teaching and ultimately improve students’ English competence.
