ABSTRACT
Mary Shelley, a well-known English novelist, wrote the first science fiction story in the history of literature. The novel Frankenstein is so unique that since the publication her Frankenstein, much attention has been attracted to the connotations of the Monster. This essay discusses the interpretations of the Monster from the point of the Industrial Revolution, class and feminism. Besides, ecocriticism is presented in closely understanding the connotations of the Monster and space is left for readers’ own explanations.
