ABSTRACT

 

The public speaking skills are important interpretation skills like retelling and note-taking and a really important part of interpreters’ ability. However, the interpretation textbooks, teachers and students have not paid enough attention to public speaking skills. The researches in this aspect are still insufficient. The training in class is far from enough to cultivate students’ public speaking skills. Systemic training and effective methods remain yet to be explored.

This paper aims at analyzing the cultivation of public speaking skills in interpretation teaching and providing guidance for interpretation teachers and learners. The study elaborates on the importance and problems of cultivating public speaking skills in interpretation teaching, puts forward important public speaking skills involved such as vocal rendering and non-verbal language. And some training methods such as enjoying and emulating Speech, building confidence and practicing public speaking skills have been summarized to be an inspiration for interpretation teachers and trainees.
