Abstract: Wuthering Heights is the only novel by Emily Bronte, a famous female writer in the 19th century English literature. The main plot of the novel is about the love and revenge of the hero Heathcliff. This paper analyzes Heathcliff’s dual character, his nature of kindness as a normal person and his evil reflected by his revenge, highlighting the reasons of his contradictory character. The analysis of the character traits of Heathcliff from the kind and evil sides of his human nature can help readers have a profound grasp of the character image so as to deepen the understanding of the work and know further about the author’s writing skills.
