Abstract: Since China adopted reform and opening-up policy in 1978, a large number of English films floods to the Chinese film market. Film title translation attracts a lot of scholars’ attention. Guided by the relevance translation theory, this paper aims to analyze the E-C film title translation from four aspects, namely, to achieve the optimal relevance between Chinese translation and source language and culture, to achieve the optimal relevance between Chinese translation and the target language and culture, to achieve the optimal relevance between Chinese translation and the theme of source language film, as well as to achieve the optimal relevance between Chinese translation and marketing.It is hoped that the present study can contribute more or less to film title studies between English and Chinese, as well as elaborating the application area of relevance translation theory.
