Abstract: The thesis aims to discuss the theme of A Lesson before Dying by means of analyzing the writing skills of the novel. The thesis will focus on the influence of the post –modernism on the author, and it will concentrate on the four aspects: the first person narrative, the stream of consciousness, the black humor, the special structure of the novel. More importantly, the article intends to discuss the impact of post-modernism on the writer in theme and writing skills.
