Abstract: The Joy Luck Club is a masterpiece written by Amy Tan, a famous Chinese American writer. The book describes the complex relation between four immigrant mothers and their daughters who were born in America. This study will analyze the culture differences between China and America depicted in the film from the perspective of marriage, including the wedding ceremony, spouse-choosing standards, the parents’ role in the marriage and the relationship between husband and wife, hoping to help readers to learn more about the cultural differences between China and America, and to enhance mutual understanding between couples in cross-border marriages. Thus, to some extent, the readers would have enlightenment, and make their marriage would be more harmonious and happier.
