Abstract: The thesis is intended to explore the major translation methods of English slang in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory. The background of the study is briefly introducted. In literature review the author examines available researches on slang translation, highlighting the importance of the research. The features and functions of slang in The Big Bang Theory are discussed. The examples of slang translation in the sitcom are analyzed to generalize major translation methods. The author points out that the speaker’s intention of using slang should be analyzed before translation and the translator should focus on context before deciding on translation methods.
