Abstract:With the development of globalization and urbanization, foreign trade becomes more and more active and dynamic. Moreover, International business correspondence tends to be more and more mature and standardized with the rapid growth of foreign trade. Business English letter is an important carrier of international trade activities. It is the most frequently-used method and tool in international business dealings, foreign trade and related business activities. As Business English Correspondence is a common writing style in the international business world, it serves for a variety of commercial activities and reflects the characteristics of international business. Therefore, the wording, syntax, expression of style, meaning and connotation of business letters all have unique features.
First, this dissertation introduces the “Six Cs’” Principles in foreign trade correspondence, that is, clearness, conciseness, courtesy, completeness, consideration and correctness principles. And then from the perspective of lexicology, syntax, this dissertation intends to analyze and discuss the stylistic features and translation strategies of international business correspondence, thus helping to deal with international business practices and external communication, to reduce trade friction, and to promote the development of China's foreign trade.
