摘要:白先勇是倍受大陆读者关注和欢迎的旅美华人作家，他被称为“当代中国短篇小说家中的奇才”，他的创作在华文文学享有很高的地位。
白先勇的小说是上世纪港台文学研究中的热点，这与他特殊的生活环境和经历有着密切的关系。他的小说主人公中，以女性形象居多，他在小说里塑造了许多不同的境遇，不同年龄的女性形象。
白先勇对于那些被命运掌控和玩弄的女性，给予着高度的关注，这种关注使其作品由始至终都伴有浓重的失落感和悲剧意蕴。他通过自己的描述，将这些女性在生活中遇到的不同艰辛，在社会、文化、人伦等方面受到的不同层次的挫折和摧残，予以表现。着力体现着她们对于自己的爱情婚姻以及命运的无力掌控，并表达着自己的同情和关怀。
本论文通过对这类女性形象进行分类分析，找到她们的共同特点，并归纳出她们悲剧性命运的原因，以弥合与改变目前对白先勇小说研究中存在的某些不足，为白先勇小说研究重新提供一种更为整体性与概括性的研究思路。

Abstract:Pai Hsien-yung is a Chinese-American writer. Many mainland readers pay more attention on him and welcome him very much. He was called “the Wizards of the Contemporary Short Story Writers in China.” His creation has enjoyed a high status in Chinese literature.
Last century, Pai Hsien-yung's novel is a hot topic in the research of Hong Kong and Taiwan literature. There is a close relationship with his special living environment and experience. In his novel, the majority of his protagonist is the female, he created a number of different situations and different ages’ female image.
Pai Hsien-yung gave the high attention to those women, who are controlled and witted by destined fate. Due to this concern, his works all along accompanied by a deep sense of tragedy and despair. By his own description, he showed the different hardships of these women in their life and expressed the different levels of frustration and destruction in the social, cultural, ethical, etc.He strived to reflect these women which focus on their own love, marriage and destiny, as well as , they unable to control them.He expressed his sympathy and concern.
In this thesis, by for that kind of female image classification, I find their common characteristic, and summarized the tragic fate of the reasons. In order to bridge and change the certain deficiencies of the Pai Hsien-yung’s novel’s research. To provide a more integrity and a summary’s research idea for the Pai Hsien-yung’s novels research.
