摘要：本文运用中国古典美学意境范畴的理论，对小说《北方的河》的意境之美作了具体分析。指出小说通过对河流意象以及象征手法的运用营造出宏阔的意境；小说通过着墨不多的母子温情的画面让人感受一种温暖的情致；还有，通过小说主人公与女记者的悲剧爱情，从侧面衬托出主人公对远大志向的执着追求，并给小说意境蒙上了一丝悲凉。

Abstract: Employing the theory of China’s classical aesthetic conception, this paper carries out specific analysis of the conception beauty in Rivers in the North. It points out that the novel creates a grand vision by using symbols and the image of rivers. The paper also indicates that the affection between the mother and the son, though not described much, offers readers a feeling of love and warmth. Besides, it suggests that the tragic romance between the leading character and the female journalist indirectly emphasizes the leading character’s adherence to his great ambitions, which makes the novel a little bit sad

《北方的河》是一部抒情性较强的小说，它与传统小说的最大区别就是采用了散文化的手法。散文化小说是一种介于散文和小说之间的文体。作者在小说中并不看重情节，通过自然景物来描写故事情节，其中对河流的考察和女记者的爱情都与每一条河流巧妙结合展现给读者的，小说情节并不曲折，旨在表达一种真情，辽阔的意境，给人一种飘逸的感觉。现代散文化小说都是以内在的感情情绪与外在的景物境况相互交融的方式构成一幅富有意蕴的画面。张承志《北方的河》就具有现代散文化小说鲜明的特色，六条河流并不是简单的自然物象而是与主人公心灵的融合，表达了独特的象征意义，使小说的语言，人物，都服务于小说的意境。
