摘要：人是环境的产物，任何个体的成长都离不开环境的影响。人的思想品德的形成过程与思想政治教育的全过程都是在一定环境中进行和完成的，并受到环境的影响和制约。思想政治教育环境的好坏，直接关系到思想政治教育的成败。深入研究思想政治教育环境，不断优化和开发良好的教育环境，有利于推动思想政治教育社会化。

广义的思想政治教育泛指的是一切自觉自为的阶级或政治集团，为实现自己的政治目标，用反映本阶级或政治集团利益、意志和愿望的意志形态特别是核心价值体系，有目的有计划有组织地对人们的思想从而行为施加影响，促使人们的思想行为朝着特定方向变化发展的社会实践活动。思想政治教育是一定阶级从自在自发走向自觉自为的突出表现之一，是一定阶级或政治集团实现自己政治目标的必要路径和重要手段。广义的思想政治教育，是阶级社会产生以来的普遍的社会政治、文化现象。
狭义的思想政治教育特指的是工人阶级政党的思想政治教育，即马克思主义的思想政治教育。思想政治教育学所研究的思想政治教育主要是指狭义的思想政治教育，特别是中共共产党领导的思想政治教育。
