摘要:21世纪是人、社会、自然和谐发展的崭新时期，也是一个生活匆忙的时代，愉快休闲的享受成为长期处于快节奏城市生活的人们所追求的目标，营造一个温馨、舒适的家则是目标的所在。因此装饰材料的正确选择、应用和其作用、功能的发挥，是家居设计的关键。本论文以马赛克为研究对象，了解其历史、文化与发展前景；通过研究马赛克在家居装饰上的艺术表现与实际应用，以家居设计方案为实例，进行案例分析，使人们对该装饰材料有更深的认识，并打破功能上的应用，说明马赛克不只是装饰材料，更是艺术。

Abstract:The 21th Century is a new harmonious period of human, social and natural development; It’s also known as a fast-paced era. Pleasant and leisure activities are becoming a long-term goal of city dweller in their fast-paced city lives. As a result, to create a warm, comfortable home is their ultimate target .That is to say, selecting and making use of the interior decoration is the vital. In this paper, we take mosaic as the research object and try to understand its history, culture and development foreground. In order to make people have a deeper understanding of the decoration materials and renew the function of the application, we also study its artistic performance and practical application in home furnishing decoration by taking some home furnishing designs for example. Our ultimate goal in this thesis to prove that mosaic is an art rather than a kind of decoration material.

马赛克延续着历史与文化，给人一种怀旧的感觉；因为体积小，可塑性强，色彩缤纷绚丽，闪烁着个性的光芒，拼凑出设计师们的一个个梦想。它不仅满足了人们的需求，也符合社会发展的方向。作为装饰材料，功能上达到了建筑物表面的防护作用，提高了环保性能，延长了使用寿命，也最大限度的发挥出其本身的艺术性；抽象的、具象的图案，灵动的线条，赋予建筑物无限的生机；色彩上的跳跃，营造出一个个清新休闲的、热情奔放的、古典神话的、现代梦幻的艺术空间，使居所不仅仅是生活，更多的是享受。从墙面延伸至地面，特色拼花，与瓷砖、地砖拼接起到点缀的作用。马赛克还用于壁画、装饰画，在相框、花瓶，屏风、椅子、桌子、柜子等家具摆设上使用，别具风味，是发挥小梦想，完成大创意的必备材料。
通过对马赛克的历史了解和文献参考，根据人们的追求、材料市场的需求和社会的发展方向，使人们对该装饰材料有更深的认识；对马赛克在空间上的艺术表现和应用进行研究分析，并打破功能上的应用，说明马赛克不只是装饰材料，更是艺术。
