English, more frequently, serves as a tool of communication, whose functions are often carried out in both oral form and written form. Statistics from IELTS have demonstrated that the overall performance of Chinese students is below average. Furthermore, speaking and writing rank the last, which at the same time greatly pull down the overall ranking. As for the speaking, even though Chinese students used to deliver a poor performance, we can still be comforted by the fact that they attach more importance to this ability out of deep interest. Accordingly, it is grounded to predict a considerable improvement of speaking ability of Chinese students.

However, what becomes our major concern is the writing ability. Writing is a comprehensive application of English. It can not only reflect the expression ability, but also display the logical thinking. All those international language tests unexceptionally regard writing performance as a quite important criterion to know the actual English ability, and furthermore, many foreign universities set a minimum score of writing in its application requirement. At the same time, domestic middle schools, high schools and universities begin to realize this field. Unfortunately, the outcome of those studies and researches fail to meet expectation. The current situation is writing becomes a difficulty both of teaching and learning, and many students ignore and feel bored and annoyed about writing. In order to solve this problem, a lot of educators have done related studies. As a university graduate who desire to teach English in the future, the author would like to get a clearer picture of the writing of Chinese students by this study, and prepare for future work.
