Abstract:Movie is the product of culture as well as the carrier of culture.（伍巧芳 2008：14）Therefore,movie as one of the tools of media reflects people’s life, records and reflects the essence and attributes of western culture, and enhances people’s understanding of western culture.The American movie has extremely obvious superiority than the other countries’ in those aspects.It lets people know about American culture,especially its dominance or recessive humanistic ideas.America is the most individualistic country in the world,and the individualism is the core values of American culture.(熊学军 2009:15)So individualism is fully embodied in many American movies which show the individualism’s influence on every aspect of America and give the answers to the casuses of many social phenomenon. The American movie helped us to have a better understanding of individualism;moreover the individualism manifested in the movie also reflects its deep influence on the American culture.
The America nation has its unique culture values, and the American movie is the carrier of the national culture and the values, therefore,the utilization of movie manifests the US's cultural characteristics. This paper, by analyzing the American movie Forrest Gump, aims to explore the mainstream of American cultural values,that is,the core of American cultural value-individualism,and interprete the specific characteristics of the American nation and its religion, history, culture, and social background embodied in this film.（周翎, 李君君 2009:62）

摘要:电影既是文化的产物,又是文化的载体。（伍巧芳 2008：14）因此,电影作为反映人们生活的媒体工具,记录并反映了西方文化的本质和属性,增进了人们对西方文化的认识。美国电影在这些方面优势极为明显。它让人们从中认识一个美国的文化, 或显性或隐性的人文思想和文化精神。美国是世界上最具个人主义色彩的国家，个人主义更是美国文化的核心价值观。（熊学军2009：15）所以在很多美国电影中都可以看到个人主义的体现，通过电影可以看到个人主义对美国方方面面的影响，很多现象形成的原因也得到了解答。美国电影帮助我们对个人主义有了更好地了解，而且个人主义在电影中的体现也反映出个人主义对美国文化的深深影响。
本文试图通过分析美国电影《阿甘正传》来探讨美国的主流文化价值观，即美国文化价值的核心——个人主义及其渊源，并由此解读美利坚这个民族特定的性格特征及其在这部影片里所体现的美国宗教、历史、文化以及社会与时代背景。（周翎, 李君君 2009:62）
