Abstract：For many years, a lot of scholars in translation community have many opinions on the application of the two strategies, domestication and foreignization. In the early period, many scholars were discussing how to choose the one between these two strategies to guide the translation activities. However, with the development of the translation activities, most of them gradually learn a more scientific and feasible methodology. That is, these two strategies are the two sides of a coin, and we should combine domestication with foreignization. Only in this way can we make the translation work meaningful and successful. A great majority of scholars have studied the application of these two strategies mainly on the literature translation. But this dissertation will mainly study the application of these two strategies in Chinese-English translation of political text.
As China rises quickly, China makes an outstanding influence on the world. Chinese politics and economy attract the world spotlight very well. So our political text translation is an important way for the foreigners to know our particular political system and Chinese national culture. During this research, we will study scholars’ results to understand the characteristics and the influencing factors in translation. Then we explore the specific approaches in political text translation, and take the translation of the Report to the 17th National Congress which is issued officially by the Xinhua News Agency for example. Political text translation is the new outcome of culture transmission. We hope that we can provide some useful opinions on the application of domestication and foreignization in political text translation to make the transmission more effectively.

摘要：多年来，翻译界的学者们对归化和异化这两种翻译策略的运用都有着议论纷呈的见解。早前时期，各路学者都倾向于讨论如何选择归化或者异化的两者之一策略来进行翻译指导。然而，随着翻译活动的发展和进步，学者们大都逐渐认识到出一个更为科学可行的方法，那就是:它们相当于同一个整体的两个方面，在进行翻译活动中，我们要善于结合两大策略，将两者统一起来，这样才能将翻译工作进行得更加有意义。从学者们的研究成果看出，学者们大多数都是谈论两大策略在文学著作的翻译活动中的运用，而本文将会对政治文本英译里探索这两大策略的运用。
随着中国的崛起，中国在世界上的影响力与日俱增，中国的政治和经济深受关注。我国政治文本的翻译是外国理解和认识我国与众不同的政治体系的重要途径，同时也是了解中国民族文化的重要途径。在本次研究中，我们会学习各个学者们对于这两大策略的研究成果，从中深化了解其特点和影响政治文本翻译策略选择的因素，从而结合新华社发布的《中共十七大报告》官方版翻译文本探讨两大策略指导下的具体翻译方法。政治文本的翻译是一种新兴的文化传播渠道，我们希望本研究能在政治文本翻译在归化和异化两大策略的应用提出一些见解,以使传播活动更加有效进行。
