Abstract: Taboo on numbers is a common phenomenon in Chinese and western culture. One of the causes of taboo on numbers is the different cultures. Under the influence of the differences between Chinese and western cultures, there are differences between the taboo culture about numbers. This paper discusses the comparison of taboo on number in Chinese and western culture from the aspects of thinking styles, beliefs, ethnic customs and different mythologies. The author hopes to help readers learn taboo on numbers in different languages, understand the differences between the Chinese and western cultures better and avoid embarrassment and confusion in communication.

摘要：数字禁忌是中西方文化中普遍存在的一种现象，产生数字禁忌的原因之一是中西方文化的差异。受其影响，中西方数字禁忌文化存在着差异。本文从中西方思维模式、宗教理念、民族风情和神话故事四个方面来研究比较中西方数字禁忌的差异。作者希望这篇论文能帮助读者了解不同语言中的数字禁忌内涵的不同，从而有助于人们了解文化差异，在交流中避免尴尬与困扰。
