Abstract:Jane Austen is a distinguished novelist in the 19th century in England. Her masterpiece Pride and Prejudice is known as the most influential literature on the theme of courtship and marriages in the history of literature. Jane Austen is known as a realistic novelist, but as a female writer, the romantic and exquisite sentiments are also founded in the lines. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane presents three kinds of motivations or attitudes towards marriage for readers by using the wonderful combination of the realistic description and her romantic sentiment. First, there is marriage merely for fortune and social rank. Second, the prime reason for this kind of marriage is beauty, attraction and passion. Last but not least, it is the ideal marriage which combines love with partner’s merits and economic conditions. This thesis aims to analyze the author’s writing strategy through these three kinds of marriage. It is argued in this thesis that it is the particular writing style makes her novel more infective.

中文摘要:简.奥斯汀被誉为第一个现实地描绘日常平凡生活中平凡人物的小说家。她的著作《傲慢与偏见》是一部探讨婚姻主题的小说,也被誉为文学史上影响深远的一部巨作。虽然简.奥斯汀被定位为一名现实主义作家，但作为一名女性，她把自己的浪漫情怀和细腻的感情融入了小说的字里行,把对现实生活的描写和自身浪漫细腻的情感巧妙地结合起来,向读者呈现了三种不同的婚姻观。第一种婚姻是为了得到财富和社会地位，第二种婚姻建立在外表的吸引和肤浅的激情上，而第三种婚姻是作者理想中的婚姻，建立在一定的物质基础和一定的感情之上。本论文通过描写简.奥斯汀在《傲慢与偏见》中对三段婚姻，分析其所运用的写作技巧。而正是这种独特的写作手法让简.奥斯汀的小说更具有感染力。
