Abstract:In the process of English learning, motivation plays a very important role, and is one of the most essential factors of achieving success. The living environment and the students’ interest will all influence their English learning motivation. Students in different learning environments and with different goals have different learning motivations. Motivation intension is based on the whole motivational variables instead of the isolated motivational variable. This paper aims to analyze the different motivations in foreign language learning of both English major and non-English major students at College of Arts and Science of Arts and Science of Beijing Union University.
This study endeavors to compare the learning motivations between English major students and non-English major students from multiple aspects, in order to obtain a clearer picture of college students’ English learning process, and to know how to help them enhance the learning motivational level. Meanwhile, it is to provide some useful suggestion to the English teachers.

中文摘要:在英语学习过程中,学习动机对外语学习有着重要的影响,是决定不同学习者取得不同程度的成功的重要因素之一:学习者所处的环境及本身的兴趣和需求等都会影响英语学习动机;外语学习动机的强弱程度也并非取决于孤立的动机变量,而是取决于整个动机变量系统。
论文将通过问卷调查的形式对北京联合大学应用文理学院英语专业的学生和非英语专业的学生进行问卷调查,从而分析比较他们在学习中动机类型和动机强度上存在的不同,并从不同的角度分析产生差异的原因。本研究试图从多个视角比较英语专业以及非英语专业外语学习动机及其构成情况,以便全面理解大学生外语学习的动机过程,旨在通过本次对本校英语专业与非英语专业学生的抽样调查了解学生的学习动机差异,希望能够对老师的教学提供一些建议,也希望对有针对性的教学工作改革有所帮助。
