Abstract："It is quite a common occurrence for Chinese-English bilinguals to switch codes between Chinese and English in their everyday conversation. This paper sets out to investigate the reasons that may cause the Chinese-English bilinguals’ code switching behavior, with a hope to make people understand the phenomenon better and learn to improve their speaking skills. Methodologically speaking, this study integrates the qualitative and quantitative examples attained from a survey in a Chinese community (Yuxi Teachers’ College) and an international community (Payap University in Thailand) to support the presentation of a more complete understanding of the code-switching between Chinese and English. According to the survey, the paper draws a conclusion that the main reasons for Chinese English bilinguals code switching includes: 1) convenience; 2) ethnic identity; 3) direct quotes; 4) concealment; 5) for practice; 6) special effect; 7) habit; 8) for fun. Specific analyses are made of each of those reasons. "

摘 要：汉英双语者在日常生活中的汉英话语转换现象非常普遍。本论文旨在调查引起汉英双语学生转换话语的原因，以帮助汉英双语者更好地认识话语转换这一现象，从而学会转换自己所掌握的话语来提高说话的技巧。从方法上讲，本论文对玉溪师范学院的英语系学生和泰国潘雅大学的中国学生进行了试探性的调查和研究，集合了具有质性和量性例子以证明和分析从调查和研究中所得出的八种原因：1.说话的方便；2.种族验证；3.引用；4.话语伪装；5.练习语言；6.特殊效果；7.习惯性；8.好玩。
