Abstract: This paper is aimed to make an analysis of the similarities and differences of the basic color words, both in Chinese and English, from the perspective of cultural connotation. When it refers to the reasons for the similarities and differences, this paper mainly focuses on the differences of environment, religions, social practices, and modes of thinking. Through the analysis, the author hopes to obtain the better understanding of the cultural connotations of basic color words, so as to cope with the cross-cultural communications and penetrations among different cultural communities.

摘要：本文旨在从文化角度分析基本颜色词在汉语和英语中的相似点和不同点。从环境因素、宗教和社会习俗影响、以及不同思维方式等角度分析造成异同的主要原因。通过分析，作者希望从基本颜色词入手，对文化差异有更深的理解，从而促进跨文化交流。
