Abstract: The thesis presents the analysis and comparision of cultural connotation between Chinese and English animal idioms, and analyzes the reasons that cause differences between Chinese and English animal idioms from literature works, religious beliefs and geographic environment. According to the comparision and analysis, we can see that animal vocabulary in any language doesn't only simply stand for a kind of animal. Instead, it's closely linked with culture, as well a bearer of culture. The culture information carried by animal idioms not only reflects the similarities and differences between two languages, but also highlights two nations' cultural characteristics.

摘要：本文对比分析了中英动物习语的文化内涵并从文学作品、宗教信仰以及地理环境三个方面分析造成中英动物习语差异的原因。通过对比分析中英动物习语，我们可以看出任何语言中的动物词汇不仅仅是动物形象的象征。它和文化是紧密相连的，同时也是文化的承载者。动物习语所承载的文化信息不仅反映了两种语言的异同点，也突出显示了两民族的文化特色。
