Abstract:The paper mainly focuses on the analysis of the character Godot in Waiting for Godot, an absurd drama by Samuel Beckett, in order to find out his purpose on creating of the character and the symbolism of Godot. The paper will elaborate its question as follows: What is the theme and core value of Waiting for Godot? What are Estragon and Vladimir waiting for? Who is Godot? How Waiting for Godot expresses the characteristics of absurd drama？
