ABSTRACT:The Thorn Birds is a family novel written by Australia’s famous writer Colleen McCullough. There are four female characters of the Clearys in the novel: Mary Carson, Fiona, Meggie and Justine. This thesis analyzes the four females’ awakening of female consciousness, struggle and fate by describing their different personal characteristics and behavior, which reflects their personal ideals and the pursuit of happiness and shows their lives, love and death. It elaborates that their awakening and struggle was a long and painful process, but they eventually got liberated. Therefore, modern women must expand mental horizons and enhance self-value and social status. Moreover, they should bring female consciousness into the social areas and expand mental horizons. Only in this way did they find their own values and did they got real freedom in reality.

摘 要:《荆棘鸟》是澳大利亚著名作家考琳·麦卡洛的家世小说，小说中刻画了克利里家族的四位女性：玛丽·卡森、菲奥娜、梅吉和朱丝婷，本文将通过对她们各自的性格、行为习惯以及对理想和幸福不同的追求以及她们的生活、爱情和死亡经历进行描述来分析四位女性女性意识的觉醒、抗争和命运，揭示她们自我意识觉醒的痛苦而漫长的道路和最终扩大了精神视野、实现自我价值、取得社会地位的过程。揭示了现代女性要想获得真正的解放，就必须将自我意识纳入社会范畴，不断扩大自我的精神视野的同时实现现实中的自我价值。
