Abstract:English, especially oral English, has been an important communication tool in the globalization context. Therefore in the countries, where English is not the mother tongue, oral English teaching has increasingly been attached importance. Communicative Approach, as one of the most popular English teaching methods, has been acknowledged by many scholars and language teachers. However, for the perfection does not exist, many scholars and teachers also found some flaws in this method which may become the bottleneck in its development. The present paper specifically examines the application of the Communicative Approach and its merits and demerits in the oral English teaching of English majors in China in the globalization context, and provides some suggestions about how to enhance its performance in the oral English teaching of English major in China.
