Abstract:English, as an international language, has become increasingly important in today's society. However, many Chinese college students, non-English majors in particular, still find it hard to express themselves in English orally after long-time English learning. Failing in communicating with an international language can bring negative impact on both personal development and social development. Learner autonomy plays a significant role in solving this problem. It is a good way to help students improve the efficiency and effectiveness of language leaning, especially in speaking skill. Students in independent colleges did not draw researchers' attention while independent colleges make great contributions to Chinese higher education. The development of students in independent colleges is as important as those in the ordinary or even prestigious colleges. Therefore this paper conducts a survey to measure the level of autonomous spoken English learning of non-English majors in independent colleges. This study is adopted also for finding out what factors influence learner autonomy and what practical ways to develop the students' autonomous spoken English learning.

中文摘要:作为国际语言,英语在当今社会占据越来越重要的地位。然而,中国大学生在经过长时间的英语学习后仍然有大部分无法用英语与他人沟通。这对个人和社会发展造成不利影响。自主学习对提高英语口语发挥重大作用,它能提高学习的效率加强学习效果。独立学院对国家教育事业做出了巨大贡献,独立学院的学生的发展也应该像一些普通高校甚至是名校的学生一样受到关注。基于此,该论文采用问卷进行调查分析,探究独立学院非英语专业学生英语口语自主学习情况。寻找影响学习效果的因素,提出有效的方法帮助学生培养英语口语自主学习能力。
