Abstract:In recent years, many experts and scholars have discussed about the advantages and disadvantages of English teaching between native English teachers and non-native English teachers. This paper aims to explore the differences between Native and Non-native English teachers’ teaching style in English majors’ class and the English major students’ perceptions on native and non-native English teachers’ teaching style in Honghe University. 83 junior English major students were asked to answer the questionnaire, and 10 of them took part in the interview. According to the result, most of the students believed that non-native English teachers have a clearer teaching aims, systematic pedagogical tasks and complete teaching plans, and native English teachers’ classroom atmosphere is more relaxing than the non-native English teachers’. There are not obvious differences between these two groups of teachers in terms of their assessment methods. Student believed that non-native English teachers did better than native English teachers in requiring students to have a good command of knowledge and in strictly carrying out teaching plans. However the native English teachers did better than non-native English teachers about applying diversified teaching methods, involving students in various activities and adjusting the teaching steps moderately. At last, the researcher put forward three suggestions, hoping that it will promote the teaching-learning activity in a way.

摘要: 近年来,国内外有许多专家学者把外籍英语教师和中籍英语教师进行对比,研究他们在教学上各自的优点和缺点以及他们在教学方法上的不同之处。 本研究旨在从英语专业学生的角度对中外籍英语教师教学风格进行探讨。 作者对红河学院83名英语专业的大三学生进行了问卷调查, 并对其中10名进行了采访。作者对结果进行了分析和研究, 研究结果表明大部分学生认为中籍英语教师教学目标更明确, 教学计划更完整, 外籍英语教师的课堂更加轻松, 两种老师在考核方式上没有明显区别。 在制定严谨的教学计划和对知识的掌握要求方面,学生认为中籍教师做的更好,而外籍教师在教学方式多样化和调整教学步骤方面做的更出色。 最后作者提出了三点建议,希望能在一定程度上促进英语教学。
