ABSTRACT：This paper uncovered the pathological essence of money worship by exhibiting the vices that money did and announcing the destructive consequences that it had, both in morality and spirit. This paper portrayed the tragedies of Gatsby and the Wilson couple, profoundly analyzed the basic reasons of their death and finally reached the conclusion that they were the pathetic victims of money worship. Additionally, money worship was not only responsible for the tragedies above; it also viciously became accomplice of the criminals, the Buchanans, helping them to escape. Through elaborately dissecting the evidence that proved money worship a torturer, the pathological essence of money worship was vividly unfolded.
With all the vices that money worship committed and the acknowledgment of the wrong that money worship did, the pathological essence of it was revealed and it would serve as a warning call for people.

有了金钱崇拜所犯下的罪证和它自身对所行不义的承认，金钱崇拜的病态本质便显现出来了，并会一直警醒世人。
