Abstract:In the National English Curriculum, the gaol of primary school English teaching is to arouse students’ interest in learning English. Game teaching method is an ideal way to develop students’ learning interest, which is suitable for children’s physiological and psychological development. Using games in primary school English teaching can create a cheerful atmosphere, arouse students’ interests, concentrate students’ attention, develop the four skills, add variation to a lesson, increase motivation and build up students’ confidences in real communication.
Based on the analysis of the advantages of utilizing game in English teaching, the thesis focuses on the application of games in primary school English class, which includes: choosing appropriate games, integrating games into learning, the procedures of using games in teaching and a case study of using games in teaching. Teacher as the initiator should organize games rationally in order to develop students’ learning interest in English.
