ABSTRACT:The research aims to learn about the current situation of English majors’ listening teaching. Whether cooperative learning is adopted in listening teaching for English majors is expected to make clear. Through the method of questionnaire, classroom observation and interviews of students and teachers, the survey comes to the following conclusions: first, the English listening teaching class of English majors in Hong He University is often given by traditional methods; second, CL is not applied to ELT in class; third, the respondents think that the teaching method needs to be improved; last, students generally believe that CL is appropriates to listening teaching, while teachers hold that CL is not so suitable for classroom activities of the current ELT, but applicable to finish homework.
