Abstract:Conan Doyle creates a vivid detective character in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. This paper aims to study the multifaceted images of Sherlock Holmes and his influence on both the following writers and readers through the analysis of his physical appearance, skillful solutions to mysterious cases and his relationship with Watson, in order to enrich people’s understanding of the detective who was regarded as a savior in the Victorian era. It concludes that as a multifaceted character, Sherlock Holmes is a polite gentleman, a knowledgeable consultant, a best friend of Watson and a right-hand man of the police.
