Abstract
With the increasing attention on improving student academic achievement, private tutoring has been expanding rapidly all over the world. Today tutoring schools are quite popular among students vary from primary school to high school students. Apart from improving their children’s grade in English tests, parents send their children to learn English (as one of the major subjects for students) in tutoring school for several other reasons like finding a place for their children to finish their homework, the invitation from teachers and so on. The income levels of parents have a distinguished influence on the motivation that parents send their children to attend extracurricular English tutoring class. And whether the effect of English tutoring is so significant is discussed in this paper. The results show actually both students and parents have given too many expectations to English tutoring.
